Looking for a torque/honing plate to rent or buy, will probably order one from socal or BHJ tomorrow if I can't find one.

I'm putting my motor together and while measuring the bores it's tighter than I like at the bottom of the 12&6 o clock head bolt holes (.0016-.0018") on the odd cylinders and the bores just are not strait at all. Machine work was done with a torque plate I just want to bolt one back on to remeasure again before i decide to send it out again to have it fixed. I'm sure it's good but I'm not taking any chances on a $15k+ motor.

Well I might go bolt a head on it and try from the bottom I guess, hopefully I can get at it to get some decent measurements anyone try that?

Did they forget to finish hone one entire side?

I've seen the bore dimensions change, but not that much, especially at the bottom. Never tried to measure from the bottom.

Are you taking raw measurements from the bore gauge, or setting zero off of a mic to the piston diameter?

It's finished honed it's pretty loose down towards the bottom .003-.0033", .0022-.0025 around the middle. I Zero'd my dial bore gauge to the piston diameter using a mic on the piston, so it reads exact p/w on the bore gauge. I tried measuring from the bottom real quick before bolting ahead on there's not enough room.

Still running cast pistons? Coated skirts? I wouldn't say .003-.0035 is loose by any means.

I would personally double check with a plate on it, unless you trust the machine shop.

Yeah I went to Mahle race cast with the standard coated skirts, there spec is min .0015, .002 ideal, .0025 max. But since it's going to be used a little hard I figured .0025-.0035 would be good. And no I don't trust any machine shop yet especially one that I can't talk to the guy doing the work or see there machines.

Bought a Socal torque plate and checked them again, the cylinders measure out pretty good now the tight spots gained .0008-.0011" Piston to wall is around .0025-.0034" they all mostly average out to be .0027-.0029". The looser spots are at the very top and bottom.

I would have sent this block back if it wasn't for the torque plate if your assembling your own motor I wouldn't go without it unless you trust your machine shop.
