For you guys that have them, how did you decide on a brand? They all seem pretty equal and expensive as heck. The main reason why I am looking to get one is kid #2 is on the way and that will make the dogs have to move from the back seat to the bed and I wanna keep them out of the elements (yes they are pampered). Thanks for any help.

I've had Leer on all my trucks since 1995. I've only had one issue with the gel coat on 4 trucks and they stood behind their product.

I've used Leer and ARE. ARE was a little better quality....Ie, stiffer fiberglass (thicker maybe), nicer hardware. Leer was better price..... both work equally well....never had a gel or paint issue with either.

I prefer ARE. The rear gate has the hinges hidden so it looks cleaner. Quality is better and seems to be more sturdier than Leer. The ARE topper seems to blend with the body better IMO.

Can you guys post up some pics of these on nbs trucks? I'm actively looking for one now, if possible some inside pics of bed-topper seal, and front end where it meets the rear window. Leers website shows 12v outlets too, just no pics. Pics of any other factory options would be cherry too!:thumb:

I have the Leer. I got the locker and love it! I keep all my straps and receiver's up there and out of the way. I have two kennels mounted in the bed for my dogs. The topper keeps it very dry in there. These are the only pics I have on my phone. If you want some better ones let me know and I will get some.

ARE all the way. I have had a few leers, their door hardware sucks really bad. The ARE on my new Chevy is the base model and it was $300 cheaper than a leer with the same features. I couldn't be happier with it. I have had leer, raider and Caravan camper shells throughout the years, this was my first ARE.

Leer was color matched victory red, side window delete, front and rear windows tinted, carpeted and LED lighting....~1200. ARE was the same but had the windows in it and the front window was a slider....~1700 for that one.

When I was looking Snugtop seemed to be the best built to me and what I was going to get. Though I ended up picking up a Carryboy which I didn't think I would find. Wish they didn't quit making them.

My local ARE dealer quoted me 2800 today with a few options, didn't realize the compression boots required rear window movement..so that's a no go..

Requested options:
Trimmed edges NO CHARGE
Fabric Headliner $130
Pet Screens $30 per side
Compression front boot $50 This does require removal of the rear window on the truck and is not a product we usually recommend. It is a universal fit boot so it may have fitment and seal issues. It is $225 to remove the rear window on the truck.
LED dome light (battery) $46
Prop switch for battery powered LED dome light $14
Outdoorsman Windoor $150 per side
Double T lock HD rear door $24
Bedrug $500
Installation $85 (includes all needed wiring, seals and clamps)

Total price with requested options $2798 (excluding the compression boot)

Mine is the plain Jane V series with fold down front window. Put your own LED lighting in way cheaper. I've had the flip up side windows before, way less useful than you imagine. I paid 1580 tax and all.

Thanks!
Mine is the Leer 100XQ
it was $3300 installed and has the following
leer locker, removable front window that also slides, led lighting, power locking rear window, carpeting, screens over side windows.

It was expensive but well worth the money. The locker was $700 option but I'm glade I did it. I put everything up there, two receivers, all tie down straps, 90' tow rope, jumper cables, blankets and jackets, gloves. It's filled will all the useless stuff that used to take up my bed.
