lookin to get an lbz mouth piece. Im assuming that this is a stock lly intake with an aftermarket filter and box??LBZ mouthpiece will work for me, correct??
Yes, I belive it just has to angle up a little more, but it works.

yes, that is the LLY one. The LBZ is about 4-5" longer too.
you will have to cut the intake pipe, and get a 4in rubber boot and clamps from the hardware store to hook it all up.
So if this pic is right, the intake on the right circled in red will be the piece Im replacing with an LBZ mouthpiece, picture on the left. Correct?? That piece only, not the intake tube as well??? Anything need to be done with the MAF after I do this or not???

As long as the tube that the MAF is mounted in is not changed then no MAF changes need to be made. We usually install an LBZ mouthpiece with an LBZ aftermarket (S&B) intake then rescale the MAF in the tuning.
In the picture you can see the LBZ MP is longer so the tube is cut and that rubber boot is used to hook it all togeather. If the truck is laggy I will show you how to fix your tune but as Dustin said, It usually is fine unless you install the LBZ S&B intake like I have. Either way its a simple tuning fix.
I think you have to cut 2" to the Right from the Yellow Sticker. I will see if I can find the TSB when I get home.
Thanks for the help guys. Is an LBZ tube gonna make much difference over the lly tube, or is the biggest gains going to be found in the mouthpiece alone???
I had an AFE stage 2 setup, which is the same diameter as the stock lly tube I believe. When I put on the mouthpiece there was noticeable difference.
I know lots of guys switch over to the entire LBZ intake setup because its supposed to relieve the overheat symptoms. Can't comment on whether or not the LBZ tube helps out much. I would bank on your most noticeable change being the mouthpiece.
This is all down the drain for me though, along with the stock turbo. I switched out for an HTT and it was the best move I've ever made for my Chevy. I would recommend not wasting money on mouthpieces etc. Splurge on a new turbo. Performance and response is 10 fold compared to any intake modification I've ever done. I was surprised how dead and restrictive feeling the stock turbo was setup (compared with running the same tune on a new turbo). Then, after I got it dialed in, it was worth the money spent.
If your set on the mouthpiece though, it does make a difference. Spool up seemed slightly better. Seemed more free flowing. Noise changed too... I wouldn't bother with the tube though, for the costs associated I would just modify the stock tube or use an aftermarket intake tube and modify it.

I found a guy selling his old LBZ intake for cheap, and I added that to my LBZ mouthpiece that I had on for 6 months. Once I changed the MAF values, adding the intake was noticeable, I had less smoke and I think with changing the maf values it increased my mpg. Even with the LBZ mouthpiece and swiss cheesing the stock LLY intake, I think you should increase the MAF somewhat.

Ya, trans is a required investment if you want to push any more power.
You could very successfully run a turbo like the HTT with stock tuning though. I suppose you can still make excellent power the with stock turbo and a built trans though so I guess its a toss up haha.

This the right piece. I keep reading that a regular rubber coupling will eventually dry rot and crumble from the heat.... This is supposedly the way to go. 4", right??
