I'm looked for a way to make the rear end of my truck a little lower and the ride a little smoother without dropping a ton of money into new shocks when they were just replaced less than a year ago. Is the rebound spring that is in the stock rear suspension necessary? it would drop my truck the right amount to level it out and should smooth the ride out a bit but I don't know if it is harmful to the rear suspension to remove it.

Yeah, the overload spring

Removing it won't hurt anything. If you tow with the truck you'll need air helper bags. There are multiple trucks out there without the over load.
