This could be the dumbest question yet, but I'd rather ask here than anywhere else.... My mom is selling her car tomorrow, and today her SES light came on. Its a 2004 Malibu. Can I use my FlashScanV2 to read/reset her SES code? Is that going to use my other license just to read her code? I'd hate to blow a $100 license on a car that will be gone tomorrow.....

Yes, you can use V2 to scan without using an licenses. You can even log without using one.

The only thing you need a license for is to put a tune on the car, you can even read the PCM without using one.

As an update, it turned out to be a shift lever in wrong spot code. I had to do a lot of looking to find what the code meant, but I got it. I guess mom had spilled a pop or two on the shifter and it was pretty sticky---she just didnt have it quite in drive....
