I recently picked up a 2004 lly reg cab to build into a race truck. Figured I'd start a thread and add a few pictures of how it goes, so far nothing special just some tear down photos. I'm hoping some other racer might see this and add anything helpful they learned while building their race trucks.

If it where mine I would address some of the frame rust while everything is out. It would be much easier now and make for a better overall build. How much did you give for it? What are your goals with it? Good luck with the build.:thumb:

I have a guy supposed to come check it out says he can soda blast the frame w the bed removed and also the front and try to tame the rust. I picked the truck up for 6k, I'm hoping to get somewhere around 1000hp out of it. I have a fully built motor that's almost complete should have that back next week. 1000 might be high hopes so whatever it makes starting out with ill be happy with as long as it's faster than my daily driver crew cab lol.

Check out Brake Performance.com on their dimpled and slotted rotor kits. You can get a complete set for under 500 and they work great. I have four sets on vehicles now. They are on my over 1000hp ccsb and work very very good stopping it.

I see in your signature you use Idaho Rob for your tuning, call them and talk to Dustin or Rob and they can help you out a lot as both have built very quick 4x4 dmaxes. The engine is getting to be the easy part, the suspension ,tranny, TC and what you are using for turbos and cooling is where it gets interesting.

Good luck. Hope you have a lot of money you don't mind blowing? ;):thumb:

Thanks Subman I'll have to call rob or Dustin good point and yeah I believe you're right as far as hard parts go the engine seems to be the easiest but it'll be a work in progress and like you said a place to let go of lots of $$ but thank you for the input.

Little more progress, never got the soda blaster guy to seem like he wanted to do it. So my step dad and I cleaned it up as best we could ourselves running out of time before it goes to get the cage. Running all new stainless brake lines while it's down too they got here this week
