I have an 05 GMC sierra 2500hd lly 5speed with 71k mi. It has a 9" long travel lift and I run 38" tires. I use it as a tow rig to tow desert trucks, quads, dirt bikes and stuff like that.

I'm thinking about getting a 3mm bigger turbo, efi live, egr delete, and getting the diffs regeared to 4.56 (it has the stock gears in em now)

I'm not looking to set any records or anything just want a lil more power and some better gas mileage. I know with the lift and tires I'm losing some power but that's not gonna change. I've had it dynoed at 349 hp and 1010ft lb.

What do you guys think? Any help/advice is appreciated.

The shop I was talkin to said a new trams would be needed if i was at 550hp or above.

im sorry but the shop you talked to doesn't know their head from their ass... the 5 speeds are good for maybe 425-450hp and given enough time they will limp and do damage to the clutches. If you want 500-550hp build the trans 4,000-$4,500 and get EFI Live, shim your FPRV, get a lift pump, and some larger boost tubes. Aftermarket intakes seem to aid in that last few hp when trying to max out a stock turbo so keep that in mind

Run away as fast as you can from that shop. They have no idea what they're doing.

Ok thanks guys I'll look at another shop. Would getting a 3mm bigger turbo be worth it or just do as much as I can to improve the stock ones breathing?

Changing the gearing should help as well right?

gearing will help a lot where you located at?

turbo like a 4094vvt or 66mm s300 would be a good upgrade yes but imo twins will be best for towing lots
