Guys I'm getting ready to build my motor and I got a quote from a company. I'm wondering has anybody had any work done from crankitup diesel? Are they reputable? I know he has a pulling truck... Climax. And what's the general thought on getting a valve job while the heads are out. Motor has 150k miles.

I have no personal experience with him, other than feeling the ground shake when Kyle runs his truck. Rumor is Evan Davis is tied in with him, and their two trucks are 2 of the best running dmaxes in the nation.

Unless his motor building is better than his transmission building I would stay far away from Kyle.

Did you have a trans built by him? I built my own and it's really not that complicated so if someone can't build a tranny i don't see how they could build a motor.

I have heard hit and miss things on him. I hear more bad then good, but then look at how well his truck does. He also has some decent stuff for sale on his website. I would look around more before going his way for sure. Any Particular reason you would go with him for an engine build?

No reason, I am getting quotes from several builders. Waiting on a quote from merchant now. I liked kyles price but I don't have another quote to compare to yet. I'm just gathering info now. I really just want someone to do the machine work and put the short block together for me. I can do the rest.

Anyone who has a good reputation building race engines can do it. Probably cheaper, there's nothing special to it. Most will bitch about boring it over though. Don't necessarily have to go to "a diesel guy"

We've got a local machine shop near us, Pfieffers Engine Specialist; they do all of our performance builds. They have a great rep in the Midwest here with dirt track, truck pulling, tractor pulling, mini rods, mud trucks and street trucks and cars. They have built several d maxs that are running north of 1000hp, and a few i know of over 1500hp

I have no problem with Kyle. He built my trans in 08 and his work was good and he was cheaper than Merchant and Fleece. I just have a problem with the trans running hot which seems to be an ATS characteristic. When the time comes, merchant will freshen up the trans and if I ever do a motor build he'll do that too.:thumb:

Have you checked prices with mark at Danville? I've never heard a bad word about Danville's work. .

I'll get in contact with him, thx. I know I've got a buddy with one of his turbos. And that turbo sounds sick. Cleans up every bit of fuel his stock tranny can handle. No smoke at all and he's running 12.8's. One of his smaller turbos too.
