Yeah my buddy is looking for the right high country too and he forget his license so I spent the day test driving them for him, damn it made my '11 feel like a dinosaur. :( ha they're real nice new trucks I wouldn't be able to hold out now either if I were you.

I'm a little confused about this but deals must work different down there.

Up here when you do the deal and sign all the paperwork they give you a form called a NVIS (New Vehicle Information Statement). You take this to registries and they register the vehicle with the Ministry of Transportation. Once this is done, it can't be undone. So if the dealer made a mistake, they are screwed.

It blows my mind they wouldn't just eat the loss and keep a customer. Now they have lost more than just this sale, they likely will lose more when they sell the truck as even as a demo it will be worth less than the $2000 they would have lost. Not to mention if someone does a carfax check and finds it was sold and registered and then bought back when the jig is up they will likely lose more. Not a smart dealer!

Not the same here. Basically they cut a check for the full amount of the taxes to the dmv in you state. So that's why I was in an interesting situation. But yes they have lost a customer and all my dads service work on his new truck

Weird.
Seems like a lot of room for shady dealers to screw people around.

Up here taxes on vehicles in most provinces and territories is done no different than buying a TV. Federal tax and if applicable provincial. All goes to the dealer, dealer pays the government. Once you pay them and you get the NVIS registered, there is nothing they can do.

No way I'd ever do that. The customer is worth more. It's a small amount considering.
