The damn thing just saved my ass AGAIN! But this time I think it saved me from going to jail. Needless to say, I was dicking around in my rental last night with a buddy of mine. we wanted to see how fast the charger was... Soooo I stomped on it from a red light and let the car do its thing. Got it up to about 100 and the passport went nuts. So I slammed on the brakes to the appropriate speed. (ummmm may or may not have been 45 lol) about another mile down the road sat 2 state troopers in some dark parking lot. One facing my direction, the other in the opposite direction. No light on or anything. I absolutely would not have seen them.

This thing is a year old and it's worth it's weight in gold! I've been saved by it so many times that I can't even count.
If you don't have one... I'd highly suggest it.

I have the 8500 with the "Blendmount" rearview mirror deal. It is an awesome setup. No suction cups or dangling wires. Saved me a time or 2.

I have been kicking around the idea if getting one!

Well think of it this way... The unit is $500.00. Quite expensive. BUT... If it helps you avoid 2 tickets, BAM. It paid for its self. It alerts you for speed traps, x band, k band, ka band, red light cameras and speed cameras.

I bought it for a road trip from tx to San Diego with the intentions of returning it after the trip. After the thing saved me and my road trip buddy from numerous run ins with the law, I decided to keep it. It's saved me easily over $1500 in tickets in the past year.

I want to get that. Along with the hard wire kit. I want to tap into a key on source. But I always take the thing out to use it in other vehicles that I drive. I don't want to keep it only in my truck. Does the blend mount offer a quick disconnect?

Yeah it is the same as taking it off the factory mount. Mine is wired to the back of my mirror with key on. The mount is great. Very strong, doesn't bounce or anything.

What can this detector smell the cops? :roflmao:

Hate to tell you ,you got lucky. In today's world with instant on technology radar and laser those cops were probably just sitting there with their fixed units on ,seen it many times. Ya it warned you but unless it can smell a cop car your buying false hope! You'll never be invisible to the law.

I have one like Pat. It alerts to red light cameras also. It stores false alerts so if you pass that way twice or more it won't go off. Some states like Virginia it is illegal to have a radar dector and they have radar detector detectors to check if you are using radar. Some radars will hide from radar detectors but i don't think the 9500 is one of them. Not sure but i think they are banned from all tractor trailer trucks everywhere. Escort also has come out with a smart cord where if you have some type of i phone you can download an app and if someone in front of you gets hit with radar and also have the smart cord and app then you would be notified miles before the radar could actually pick it up. This in theory could link everyone on the road and be notified way before a cop even knows you are around

On open stretches of highway, it has detected and alerted me about a cop over a mile away. So the rang on it is pretty good. And no, it doesn't false alarm much. Every once in a blue moon, it will go off in front of a store. But I will mark the location and tell it not to do it again.

Buying false hope huh? Well... I guess getting me out of over $1500 in tickets is false hope.

The escort also detects laser. So that's no big deal either. I'm telling you man, the thing is bad ass. It's alerted me of cops sitting on the other side of an overpass looking for people. Can't even see him untill your at the top of the bridge.
