Also what's the professional opinions on keying the crank?? Does it need to be keyed all the way including the crank gear or just the items in front of it???

I'd be cutting the crank if its gotta be used.

I agree just not a good idea to turn with large hp applications. I m just curious that if someone pays 16000 to have their short block done gets it back and sees this , would they roll with it or be pissed off ??

X2, if you can feel it, don't let it slide. If it were my project I'd run a hone stone across it and hit it with some emery cloth. BUT, if it came from a machine shop like that I'd be PISSED.

Well you guys pretty much sum up how I feel. If I built this in my garage I would let it slide but from a builder and machine shop I think this is not good. Cranks are a dime a dozen and why chance a failure on a 30000 dollar engine for a 200 dollar used crank I'm not gonna run it like this.

Yes to keying the crank gear too. IIRC when mine was done, two separate keys were used.

I was told that keying that gear is not necessary. It was explained to me that the main gear never spins and the roll pin is enough to hold it
