I have a 05 LLY. My oil pressure gauge, in the instrument cluster, is not working correctly. I want to install an additional manual oil pressure gauge. Can anyone tell me the best place to install one without removing the current oil pressure sending unit? Thanks

Just put a sensor on the side of the block. I believe the plugs containg oil are the ones just above the main bolts on the side of the block.

You can buy a new stepper motor on Ebay and fix the gauge in the cluster yourself. You just need to know how to solder to a circuitboard. Just an idea.

Does anyone know or can find out if the cluster manufacturer (Delphi?) used the standard type of lead solder or lead-free solder? If it is lead-free, the solder process is different and you may burn the board if you're not careful. The company I work for has been changing over to lead-free solder for the last two or three years in our clusters and GM is one of our customers (unfortunately we don't make the meter for our trucks).

Is your truck tuned at all? With what. I ask because I've had a customer come to get tuned - I downloaded his stock tune and compared it to another customer's stock tune with the same OS and truck equipped exactly the same. They had no difference that EFI Live could find and I loaded the DSP5 tune I already had for the other customer onto this truck. Everything worked fine, no check engine light or anything but we noticed the oil pressure gauge wasn't working. Tuned it back to stock and it worked fine again. Built a new DSP5 tune from his stock tune, loaded it on and it worked fine. Compared his new DSP5 tune to the one that made the oil pressure gauge not work and EFI Live could find no differences. This is why I write every tune starting with that trucks stock tune now, regardless of OS or whether EFI Live says they are identical stock tunes.

I saw the same issue on a 5500 Dustin.
