Been putting a few hours in on the truck the past few days. Got all my parts cleaned except for the oil cooler.
I got my gauges switched out of my double pod into a triple and installed and wired in an oil temp gauge. Installed the DSP5 switch into the overhead console and ran the wiring for it also. Tomorrow I will attempt to wire it into the ecm.
Also installed a distribution block for power to my lift pump, transfer pump, webasto and air compressor. Will have that finished up tomorrow once I get a few electrical connectors I need. Cleans things up nicely.

Got my DSP5 wired in. All I have to say about it is F YOU little wires! If it doesn't work it will be going somewhere to be re-done.
Finally done with wiring.
Diff oils change tomorrow.

Where do people normally tie into the filter housing to pre-lube the engine?
Also not sure which plug to take out for the oil temp gauge.

Had to heat it up but got it out. It is NPT so no need to buy a fitting.

Question about the oil cooler. Is it a big deal to get these to seal again if I take it apart and clean it? I really don't want to take it apart and have it leak, but I really want to to make sure there are no metal flakes from my broken crank in there-not that there was much of anything in the oil pan but still........

Technically the oil cooler is not a serviceable part. I've seen every gasket available except the one where you would split it in half. And there are little orings that separate coolant from oil.
Is it risky...yes, have I done it...yes, did I get lucky...yes

Alright then.
I'll wash it as good as I can and leave it together.

So I got all the new bolts I need to convert over to or replace the Allen heads for the intake manifolds, oil pans and valve covers. Under $20 for everything. Way better than scrubbing off silicone rust and dirt.

Question now about studs and their locations. I know there are a couple needed for fuel return/supply piping, harness maybe, etc. just not sure where I need them so if anyone has a pic or two handy that would be sweet.

Also nothing goes in the empty bolt hole you can see in the head inside the intake correct?

Well it's been a few months. Time for another boring update.

In July I got the heads and my injectors and a couple other odds and ends down to the builder and I actually got to finally put my hands on my rod and pistons. The build sheet on the rods from Cunningham said they weighed in at I believe 1130 grams which isn't terribly out to lunch compared to the other rod builders but they are a bit heavier. Either way I will find out how they work hopefully soon enough.

The engine is almost assembled just waiting on some cam parts to get shipped to the builder and then it will be all done hopefully by the end of the month if not early September. They ended up using an LML balancer with the LML crank as it was 60 grams lighter and made things balance a lot better with no need for Swiss cheesing the crank.
Not looking forward to paying for the build though. The Canadian dollar is not doing well compared to the US. It's probably going to cost me 25% more now than it did a year ago. Thanks Obama and OPEC for that. smh.

Also it's been 3 years now since I hauled it home from Saskatchewan on the trailer. Time to get it done.

Battery is mounted on the frame rail with a battery blanket now. Just need to cut the cables a little shorter and change the ends to a top post and it's ready to go. Also re-wired my power supply for the gauges on ignition power-something I should have done 7 years ago.
Found an issue with the steering box when I replaced the pitman arm. The shaft moves up and down an 1/8th" so I wreckon I'll be changing a steering box shortly after I get it on the road and it starts leaking.
Other than that ready for an engine.

Was mostly done awhile ago. Was just waiting on the dollar to improve but other circumstances forced me to move earlier.

Pretty much just needs to be dressed and installed and a few other loose ends tied up.
