LM2 Vs LZO

I purchased a New 2024 AT4 1500 Sierra 1/2 Ton three weeks ago with the 3.0 Ltr Duramax LZ0 engine. I'm on my third tank of Diesel and noticed the average milage is 12L+/100km. Was hoping to see at least 10L~/100Km. I traded in my 2021 Elevation for an upgrade with the 3.0 Ltr Duramax LM2 engine averaging 9L~/100Km. It had 54,000Km on it and found it to have more torque on the bottom end than the 2024. A noticeable difference. Same size of tires 20". I drive both on the Hwy most of the time. I'm hoping I'm not going to be disappointed with the cost of Diesel @ $1.65/Liter. Love both trucks and was hoping this will be my last truck as I am planning to retire in a couple of years. I'm assuming the break in for this small diesel is around 5000Km or 3000miles. Please advise! ;)
Thanks

Not going to find a lot of help since these are so new. I did watch a YouTube video the other day of a guy with a similar situation. He had different rear end ratios in his two different trucks which lead to reduced fuel economy in his new 3.0 duramax. It would be worth doing some research see what gear ratio was in your old truck vs the one you just bought. IIRC the gear ratio changes with the trailering package

I will add that the factory lift of the AT4 will also have a negative effect on fuel economy.
