Lifters

Talking with a very knowledgeable duramax enthusiasts yesterday and he was telling me that lb7 lifters are better then lbz lifters because the lb7 lifters are self lubricating and the lbz are not. Does anyone have experience with this? had them both out before but can't say I remember a difference between them.

Yeah I would like to know also because Socal sais not to use the LB7 ones with there cams.

I'm aware of height differences but nothing else. The 'tabs' that stay in the retainer as the lifter goes up and down are longer on the later ones iirc.

Which, you have to watch when installing aftermarket cams. If their base circle is smaller to achieve more lift, the shorter style lifter gets dangerously close to dropping out of the retainer. I still cannot remember for sure but I think it's early lb7 lifters that are shorter

Lbz lifters are shorter and lighter. They would be you better choice.
