My stock turbo is on the way out the door vanes are sticky, tried everything short of replacing. Plan to eventually take the truck up to around 650hp mark. Already planning a transmission, internals and fuel. What’s a good turbo to grow into? Don’t want to replace with a factory turbo just to change it again when the time comes for more power.
Stock trans
Stock fuel
DSP5 switch (120hp tune max)

For that HP you can go with a 63-64mm or a 65-66mm.

1) 63-64mm is pretty well tapped out at 630-675whp. This will drive great and meet your goals as well as do literally anything you want in terms of towing etc. These run very well on stock fuel/trans and only get better as mods are added.
2) 65-66mm is pretty well tapped out at 650-725whp. They drive pretty great but are not my ideal choice for someone who tows heavy and works their truck. They really like some added fuel and a different converter to get those OEM like driving manners.

These are ranges as each brand is different. As for brands, I recommend staying with JZ Mfg, Fleece, and Duramax Tuner as they've given me the least amount of issues at our shop. RDS hasn't given me a ton of issues either but I also only recommend a 10 blade turbine from them.

Please reach out if you have any questions or decide to pull the trigger, we are one of the few authorized shops on this page and we aren't here to jerk anyone around.

Have you actually taken the turbo apart and rebuilt it yet? Mine were sticking years ago and haven't had a problem since I rebuilt the turbo.

TX of course
Bdsankey covered it pretty good. I have a 64mm and am happy with it. I don’t think I would have been happy with the lag on a 65-66mm while towing.
