I am in the process of removing my upper oil pan. I have removed the front diff and transmission from the truck, and now I am trying to figure out how to remove the rear bolts for the oil pan. Does anyone know of any way to remove the rear bolts without removing the flywheel?

No. The flywheel must be removed.

Why are you removing the upper pan?

Thanks, that's what I was afraid of. My upper pan is cracked and the seal is going out.

I found a way around removing the flywheel for those doing and upper pan removal. I ground down a 17mm 3/8 drive socket just enough to clear the flywheel. It was enough to break the two bolts loose, then the rest can be done with a wrench or needle nose pliers. :thumb:
