Hey guys,

just bought my first diesel. I think i learned my first hard lesson too. Coolant system pressurizing and blowing bubbles in bottle test. burps coolant out of res. and now leaking from rear of engine when cold.
taking to dealer tommorrow? 120hp superchips tuner, shift kit on tranny..
probably head gaskets.. replaced cap already no luck.

Headgaskets.

Mine does all of the above except leak outside the block and I have a popped HG. Good luck with it, sorry to hear.

If you do it yourself it can be done fairly cheaply in about 20 hours... For me gaskets were about 150-200 a piece and the head studs were 600. Copper washers and O-rings for the injectors totaled about 100 bucks. Head alignment dowels were like 5 dollars. I took the heads to get checked/milled and it was 100 and change. Exhaust gaskets etc was about 80 bucks.

Its just the work that is a pain in the ass. I recommend pulling the motor out of the truck. Or taking the cab off if it is easier. I did it in the truck though and managed to get it done. Just hard working on a lifted truck from outside of the engine bay. Half the time I was laying across the motor or sitting on top of it or working from the wheel well.

Same stuff mine has. Like FMOS said, do it yourself. Save some money if your truck isn't under warranty. Just found mine out recently, gonna do it myself when I can get some time.

WOW:eek::eek: for that kind of money you could haul/ship the truck to someone who knows what they're doing and still come out a couple grand ahead!! I do them for under half of that all the time with studs and any machine work that may be needed.
