I am reinstalling some hsp manifolds on some new heads. Got bottom tight first. Having trouble with the top row not wanting to get tight. Don’t have a torque wrench on it but arm says it’s at the 28 pounds already and I have about another 1/16th to squeeze before the gasket compresses.

Has anyone had these warp? I tried to chase the threads in the head but dropped and lost my chaser. So I got a Normal Tap and ran it in all holes to clean.... of course I can’t get the bottom 3/16ish cleaned cause the nature of the thru hole tap (non bottom end)

My bolts are 30mm long

They are not a tubular log style like the old RDL ones though, they look a lot like a steed speed style where 2 halves are welded together

I had one of the first sets of 2-1/4" billet ones and ran for 3 pulling seasons and never had any issues with them. I did run Levi's blankets on them though, maybe that help some.

There was an issue with he heat treatment process that allowed them to warp during heat cycles. Call Charles, they can be heat treated and machined back to a true surface. They are also working on a 2nd design, which is what I have been waiting for.

Charles has been helpful, I just havent sent mine back to be fixed yet.

Mine had Levi’s blanket too. I think I will see how they do. If they leak... maybe I’ll call them up. Gonna try to make a test hook this weekend. I’m pretty sure I got them 2014 when they came out
