I went to install my B&W flip hitch about 20 minutes ago and ran into one big problem. There is a crossmember on the bed right where the back of the hitch needs to go.:(

I looked on B&W's website and it said on some of the 3500's it needs a new bed with only one cross member above the axle.

So I was going to pull the box and remove the crossmember in the way and finish the install.

Just wondering if someone else has ran into this problem or not, and what you did to fix/complete or make the install easier before I go cutting the crossmember off.

the vehicle in question in an 07 classic 3500 SRW ECLB.

That's what we did on my dad's truck. Just cut it out of the way. Seems to be fine so far. Almost 2 years and no problems that we can tell so far.

It shouldn't be too big of a deal to cut it out and install a custom made c-member that clears the hitch-if you feel you need it. The support of the hitch should in itself act as a c-member I would think.
