They used to have weight restrictions on certain roads. I am from Cali I have been in your position before. I got ticketed for having a dually/camper and a flatbed trailer and they said she t was commercial but I asked them to show me the weight restriction of that road and I was under the weight so I go off.

Weight restrictions keeps commercial traffic off city streets.

That's not me, just a friend that went out west to meet with the buyer of his old car.

The second link I supplied explained that any vehicle with a GVWR of 11,000 pounds or greater is a class C vehicle until connected to a trailer, at which point the combination is considered commercial, regardless of GVCWR being less than 25,999 (his was 22,600). Most duallies are 11,200 or more so it pretty much is a universal situation.

Unless the trailer is an RV. And looks like they excepted boats as well.

As dad puts it, what if the truck has a camper, or the trailer is a toy hauler? Our plan on our rig was to put a pair of folding cots bolted to the walls in the race trailer and claim living quarters, as our GVCWR will be 26,400. 11,400 on the truck and trailer has triple 6's for 18000, but cargo-mate derates to 15,000.
