Filter before lift pump?

Just curious if anyone has a filter before there lift pump, and if it's caused any issues in the past?? Pump failures? My holley blue pump just bit the bullet,l so i installed a PPE pump. I just want to make sure it doesn't kill this pump. The holley pump was used when i got it so i think that might have had a hand in it.

I run a fuel filter/ water seperator before my pump so that it cant eat any trash.

Holley pumps are known for short lifespan when used with diesel. Sounds like you just had some bad luck.

ok thanks. ya i got that pump used off my buddy's race car. so i think i got my 40 bucks worth.
