Finally got around to fixing the god awful annoying clunk my truck seems to get. In fact, it started at 2500 miles and I've lubed these splines so many times and it just comes back.

When we took it out of the transfer case, it was bone dry and slightly discolored from the heat. This friggen piece was so hot, I could barely touch it. I also cant believe how much rust accumulated under this truck in 1 winter up in NY. It makes me sick.

I went with Mobile 1 synthetic grease and lubed the shit out of it. I'm hoping this will fix the problem but it must be getting hot and its obviously cooking off the grease off there for some reason.

Yes there is, I had the new Yoke installed .

I had a rear Tcase leak. tried 2 seals , didnt help it, So the Tech checked and found a TSB on the yoke.

Got it in and no more leaks or noise.

Hope you get one Nick.

BTW these Northern states oughta be sued for the damn salt and calcuim they put on the roads. Sand would be fine!!!

I didnt know there was a TSB for that. I try to avoid the dealership like the plague. Whats the new yoke consist of? Different material or what?

Dropping this shaft to constantly relube it isnt high on my list.

TX of course
That Syn grease probably won't last through the summer it gets real runny with heat. I use lubemaster same as on our Iron and it works good only dropped the shaft once in 60K+, but I also don't have a steel shaft.

It means technical service bulletin. They do this when there's a problem with some kind of part and there's a fix for it.

Anyone got the TSB?

Evidently, I'm new to forums...:D

BTW Kat, none of those links work.

OK I need to ask Rob why our links are not working properly :(

Search "clunk" in the TSB forum and they should pop right up.
