I'm probably setting myself up for some verbal abuse but here goes..

Just finished putting new injectors in @230k. Engine would turn over but no fire. Researched and tried everything I could find but no dice. Decided to take a shortcut with a little old fashioned ether....as soon as it I fired I switched it off, but apparently not quick enough because now it won't even turn over. Am I totally screwed or am I missing something?

No......wish I would have been thinking....

But just for kicks, I decided to give t one more try.....it turned right over and now purrs like a kitten with no unusual noises. WTH?....did something shut down, then reset, if it sensed an over rev or preignition?

Ether makes cylinder pressures go insanely high. Your engine was probably "compression locked" for a bit.
That makes sense....so once the pressure bled off, that's why it would turn over again...

Doing compression check just to make sure...but it sounds ok now and no fuel in oil....fingers crossed, may have dodged a bullet

Well I *might* have dodged a bullet....compression check ok, engine starts and runs smooth, stethoscope reveals only minor valve train noise on rear cylinders. No noticeable blowby. But now I'm stuck in limphome that won't clear, along with ABS and intermitent TCM (C0035 and P0700). Coincidence?
