Cp3 removal

I have been trying to find a how to in the diy section on replacing the cp3 to see what all it consits of....and of course no luck. If you have any info on what has to come off or any pictures please post it. Also im trying to find a lbz pump to replace the one im taking off! Mine will be for sale (for a rebuild)...make me an offer!

is it possible to get the cp3 out without pulling the coolant y bridge? or are the damn bolts behind it? just contemplating doing this while my truck is down so i can finally have enough fuel

Bolts are behind the coolant y bridge. Y bridge has to come off. Actually a lot of crap has to come off, it's a pain in the a*s. But it can be done. Good luck

It is a PITA... alternator bracket, a/c pump bracket, y-bridge, coolant cross over, just to get to 4 god damn bolts. That was the first project I ever attempted by myself and somehow some way it went back together fine except the oring to that black coolant tube under the thermostat housing pinched and leaked coolant so be careful

ya i've done that once an ya not really looking forward to it lol but i think i got me 45% over cp3 for around 800 bucks if i do get out comes the stock cp3

but again thats on a lly,and again im pretty sure the lb7 is the same way.

I didnt pull any of that off just the y bridge relief valve etc. You can get to the bolts all you need is a swivel on a couple of them

why did you take the turbo off?

I dont take the y bridge off:thumb: I remove the lift pump off the cp3 before removal, saves me a lot of time

Well i just took the four bolts out only took the fan an upper shroud off nothing else juts going to pull the y bridge as its easy to get to on mine an the junction block an it'll be out within an hour or two

Ya im glad it wasnt as hard either now if i just knew if i was gettign that pump or not for sure id finish ripping it out, i wonder if ill be increasing displacment on my motor soon :rofl:

Never taken off coolant y-bridge, y-bridge, or turbo on LB7, LLY or LBZ...

Just pulled the four bolts an then just all the plumbing to the cp3 wasn't bad The y bridge just made things easier

why did you take the turbo off?

im running the lbz bridge from a 4500.and it larger than a stock one from a pickup truck and
i couldnt get to the back bottom bolts on the y bridge. because the turbo was covering it up. if you look at my pics you can see what im talkin about.

o i c ya thats a pain hardest part bout pulling the cp3 is the ****ING junction block oh my god i was ready to ****ing scream mine wouldn't wiggle out it hit this the got snagged on that f-me what a pita that took more time then anything else
