Cleaning heads

What is the best way to clean the heads (while there off and before assembly)? Should I take the intake runner off for cleaning as well?

would it be ok to clean it all together in a parts washer?

I disassemble the head completely and use a steam cleaner. If you use this method be ready with a can of wd-40 to prevent corrosion on anything steel. Otherwise take the head to a machine shop and have it hot-tanked. Jmho.
