Question: Can swap

My cab is not in good condition (2005 gmc 2500hd), but I have found a good condition 1999 gmc 1500 z71 that has leather and the cab is really good. The truck needs a trans but it would be a 900 dollar cab donor that I could part out. Is there any difference in the cabs from 1999 1/2 ton to 2005 3/4 ton? Could I make the nicer interior work with my truck?

There are some fairly major electrical changes, if nothing else. The physical shell might be the same, but I don't know for sure. I know GM did some fairly major changes for the 2003-2007 classic trucks vs. the 1999-2002 trucks.

Your brake booster assembly bolt holes wont line up the same. Will have to drill new hole.

Is the brake booster the only thing mechanically? Using an lml booster is the upgrade right?

How hard is it to strip a cab? I would then send it to paint.
