Looking for the best removal ideas.. It's on a short bed 2002 Silverado. It's a leer and I want to remove my pickup bed. I need to make the bed as light as possible. I seen people sting pullies and wrap rope around the canopy to lift it using a pulley in the garage. I have seen people use sawhorses. I wondered maybe sliding it off the back and lower it So if can show me works for you please.

Theres no easy way to do it by yourself. Get a buddy to help.

I have a small utility trailer that place 2x4s on that I rest mine top on until I can figure out a pulley lift in the garage.

I do mine with a slight modification to the tie rope around the Leer.

After the restraining clips were removed, I placed 2 2x4s under the Leer, one near the front and one near the back, with eye bolts outside the Leer. Be careful because the Leer can slip off the boards. One solution is to put J-bolts through the front and back mounting holes and the 2X4s inside that and tighten the J-bolts down to clamp the boards. Then rope up to the rafters, lifting one end then the other, a little at a time, until you reach storage height. I keep mine stored in the garage and park the front of the truck underneath it.

If you don't want to keep it there, sure, get a few friends, lift it off, and put it where you want it.

Easy way is to build a saw horse at the bed rail height and slide it off.

As others suggested, build a pulley or a gantry crane style for it. That's the best, easiest way to do it. Another way that works is find a set of 2 trees or a post to tie against, use two large 2" ratchet straps or a come along with a strap under it in a basket style and crank it up until it's off your truck and drive it away. You can use lawn tractor trailer with 2x4 across to move it else where after bringing it down off the ratchet straps.
