Get a smart charger if you dont understand charging rates and how they affect a betteries performance and life span. You set them for the proper battery type and walk away, the smart chip handles the rest...

Mines also a schumacher #4022, 2/10/40/200. It's a 2 wheel charger though. I guess it depends on what you need. Black Friday deal on that was $89, can't complain about mine so far.

I needed one with 6V on it as well for the Farmall Cub and it is getting harder to find one with 6V on it.

We had a about 1962 model year Ford tractor it was not the 8N but just a tick larger that had a 6 volt positive ground system. I recall one day we blew the caps off the battery jump starting it...

Did you jump it with 12V? I have hooked the truck to a couple 6V tractors and the amp gauge goes ballistic, lol. If I put my jump box on the 6V system it will crank it but it drains the 12V jump box in no time.

We blew the tractor battery up couple times, can't remember which way we had to hook it up with ground being positive on the tractor..

I bet it was backwards. Ive been there on our old Deere MT.

We have jumped several 12v tractors with 24v. Never blown one up knock on wood.

Dozerboy, I'll fess up, the first time it happened I did it. My excuse, I was 12 years old and even at that age I knew it was a positive ground....
