I agree with ne-max on this. I havent heard great things about smeding, and the few guys i know that have bought their s400s or ive put them on havent had good luck. Slightly above ebay chinese turbos, they just have the smeding name on them.
Not knocking brad or his company what so ever. Just my opinion and experience with them over the years.
Kiwi, give blake a shout on here about new tunes and you may not want to switch to a fixed vane for the tuning reason. But i agree fixed vanes are where its at

No offense taken. I picked them up for their ford install kits. I have limited experience with their chargers which is why I said it early on hahaha. I usually run only Forced Inductions borg units. I wish, like many others, that they sold the housings to the open market.

Just my $0.02. I have been wanting to try their drop in s300 on an SDP compound setup as well.

They are a copycat company, no denying it. We have had good luck with their s400's on 2nd gen swaps. S300's have been pretty rough, which is why I haven't experimented with the drop in yet. Warranty has been on point, but of course that doesnt cover our labor...

My thoughts exactly, I've got more experience on their S400s as well.

So what kind of warranty do they offer on the turbos?

whats coming apart on them?

hate to have a compressor explode and take out the engine and/or intercooler. or have the damn truck run away on you

Most of them just eat bearings and start seeping oil. We have had a couple scatter turbine wheels though.

Had a local guy running a very aggressive Dodge setup with a Smeding 480, struggled for months to get it to make anything over 775 HP, swapped to a box stock S476SXE and it made 900 first pull. (Built 5.9, S&S 135, Dual CP3s).

Are they the 360° ones?

I believe the replacements were, but most of the failures were not a 360 bearing. We have gone away from using them for the most part.

Anyone else make a drop in like this? I remember seeing another company before. It’s convenient already have sdp full high flow kit for vgt. Ran a 369sxe on my lmm as a daily and liked it.

Fleece offers something similar but only smaller sizes.

If you want the direct drop in feature then Smeding is your option. I’ve got experience with a couple and while we do sell them they aren’t my first go to.

Would you agree it’s better than a drop in vgt?

The Smeding unit? I'd rather have a quality drop-in VGT. I don't trust them as much as I trust a high-quality VGT. Sure the S300 portion will flow better on both sides and make far more power but for how long?

I put a fleece s362 kit on a 13 lml dually and was super impressed with the quality. The spool up, I swear was quicker than stock and the truck drove awesome. The customer loves it. Everything bolted right up to all the factory piping

No experience with their gm stuff but I can speak to their reliability on the Ford drop in.

I have a smeding s369 drop in my 15 6.7 Ford (stroker pump, built trans and intake piping) I put it on probably 6 months ago and have put 5k miles or so on it. I was very happy with the fit. Replaced a fleece cheetah vgt that failed after like 5k miles/4 months. We also did a 364.5 in a customer's 2016 ford and he's been happy far as i know.

I have tortured my ford for the past 10k miles. I pretty much only drive it when I want to beat on something since I have my lb7 back. I broke the fleece doing 1/8 mile 4hi runs. It lived through 3 before the smoke started. The 369 has dozens of 4hi launches on it and roll races to 110+. Swings 50ish psi boost by 3rd gear and just stays there. Definitely give up some bottom end with the non vgt but once it lights at around 2200 rpm it is game on.

Hmm maybe I’ll have to give it a whirl. My stock vgts getting tired at 125k with half those miles pushing 600. I’ve ran a 369 on the lmm and loved it. I’m sure I’d like a 467 better but half price and being able to drop in is a huge plus.

If you are going to lean on it very often, skip the s300 and run an s400. Buy once, cry once. S300 is great and has it's perks, but it will not tolerate the abuse the s400 frame will. I am not a fan of larger a VGT but they have their perks as well.
