2007 Silverado 3500 Classic Crew Cab long box Engine:6.6L V8 OHV 32V TURBO DIESEL
305000k on it -only 55000 by me in last 8yr, purchased second hand in 2010

Had truck in for new tires and a check on a glow plug light. Got the new tires and was told 1 glow plug needed replacement so got that done.

Also got new batteries installed and now the "Not Charging light " has come on.
Batteries were original so they were due. Alternator is DR44G 2 pin 145 amp ??and is obsolete and probably original also.
Any Suggestions on replacement (Available in Canada, Alberta, Edmonton)
Son-in law will install but need part. Chev. Dealer wanted close to $1000 to supply and install.

That is a great alternator , do you not have a rebuild shop near you ? I just had mine rebuilt with better than new american bearings ! Good luck ! I AM NOT SAYING TO BUY A CHEAP REBUILT ONE !!!

^^^^ like he said

Check rockauto.com. They carry dealer parts also. Put a cheap one in there and you'll be doing it again soon.

I've had excellent luck with remy new units which you can buy from rockauto(advance used to carry them). Mines got 90k miles on it and ut still puts out enough juice to bring the volt meter up with the glow plugs on. Avoid parts store remans, they're all made in mexico junk.
