Order the solenoid stabilization inserts as well and put them in while your in there. Don't buy the Sonnax springs, they don't fit. Just use OEM springs with the sonnax inserts. I spent like 60 bucks on parts and feel much better about longevity of VB. Orings on valves is a horrible idea like the next gen kit. The machining on the sonnax kit is impressive. Probably .0001 clearance on valve to sleeve. Sonnax knows what's up and has the history to prove it.

We will see. The ratiotek kit puts new springs in there. If they dont fit, ill have to talk with Younger about that. I also want to see if the new vb has that already.

We had a 24 come through the shop with typical VB wear at the feed limit low bore. 23k miles and setting P0747. The sonnax kit was unable to repair the bore.

I was able to stake the sleeve into place and get vacuum over 20”

Essentially yes. The sonnax kit should permanently fix the wear on the feed limit low valve. At least we hope. I did the kit instead of the half ass software 'patch'.
Actually, no, not really. What the 'update' does is monitor the line pressure and if it detects a condition that indicates that the 'lockup' is likely to occur in the next 10,000 miles, it'll set a cel and dtc, and limit the trans to 5th gear. It won't prevent the wear or delay it, just (hopefully) prevent it from actually happening.

I should have clarified. The software fix fixes nothing as you point out, the sonnax fix we hope will be permanent. Apple and oranges.

Sounds like the software update would be a good idea regardless

Eh, im not updating mine. Its a rushed calibration and I’d like to know more about it before flashing it. I’d rather fix the hard part.

So, can these hold any real power with modifications yet? Not to get off track.

Nobody has yet to show significant track times at back up the horsepower people are claiming on the dyno. Even still there nowhere near as reliable as the 6 speed. They still can’t be built to be reliable.

Oh I agree on fixing the real issue, but I don't see how updating a monitoring parameter and limp mode default would be rushed? Unless there's more

Well… we dont know if theres more or if the updated cal causes something else because they missed a table or parameter that dictates a different segment in the trans tune. Then you will need another update and so on. Theres a shitload that goes into the calibration side of these vehicles and just knowing what i know from friends in the vehicle engineering world dealing with situations like this, the push for the fix isnt always with the best thoughts in mind. More about how to save face for the immediate future

Its just more of a personal opinion than anything. No proof or facts to stand on so take it with a grain of salt
