I'm looking for info on swapping the crappy 350 that's in my 2000 obs 2500 to a duramax. what all is involved in the swap? Putting the engine into the truck is a non issue just the electrical side of it I'm not too sure how to make work. Any info would be awsome.

Moved into Repower/Transplant section. Start looking thru this section and reading. There are a few threads here on people's OBS conversions.

it's a lot, you'd be way better off buying a duramax truck...the electrical / computer systems are completely different even to get to the early LB7 version...if your truck was 2 years newer(and had a 6.0 vortec) it'd be a different story..

Either have someone wire up the standalone harness for you or look up wiring schematics and wire one up yourself. Not hard, just time consuming. Also, to make the gauges work on the truck as it sits now, just move the old sensors out of the gas engine and install them on the duramax engine... no real need to swap an entire dash or gauge cluster/adapt to older dash if you don’t need to...

I agree, go stand alone and use an Edge CTS2 Monitor to see what your stock dash won't display. If you're going LBZ 6sp Allison you can wire up a momentary switch with the correct resistors to use tapshift. Tow/Haul mode is tougher to solve, I'd just run a mild tow tune for daily driving or get EFILive DSP5 and have selectable tunes..
