    Brake issue

Tbc gain is supposedly at 5.5. She said the truck never acted like brakes were stuck on but yet it's obvious all 4 were extremely overheated at some point. Wife has a track record of driving like a maniac so I think with all the clues here, all I can do is replace pads and rebleed with dot 4...

    Brake issue

No codes in abs module. The pads are not worn away much but definitely fried. I won't see the face of them until next week when I replace them. Surprisingly no rotor warping. I took it for a spirited test drive and then checked rotor Temps and they all were good. Sent from my SM-G990U2 using...

    Brake issue

She claims the brakes functioned perfectly up to this point, so I'm assuming there were no calipers hanging up. But even if there was, all 4 at the same time mustve been? If there was moisture or air, wouldn't it have to be out at the calipers to see enough heat to boil? I did not cycle the...

    Brake issue

Tuesday I did akebono slotted front rotors, napa silent guard pads front & rear, and all 4 new(reman) calipers on a horse hauler 2018 l5p. Came in with the typical frozen tight pins, at least one in each caliper. The rear rotors are good shape napa premiums. Today he sends his wife to a horse...

LB7 motor build mainly for towing

01 thru 16 dmax lifters are just about bullet proof. Clean them up and inspect each one and reuse them. Sent from my SM-G990U2 using Tapatalk

    Did I blow it up?

Most of the time, even an unclogged crankcase vent system will not flow enough when you break a piston and the rear crank seal will blow. Sent from my SM-G990U2 using Tapatalk

If you were to build an LML....

That's what I was getting at, this style has no rear dowel relief, so depending on the length the dowel was cut to(callies do not come with dowels) it can cause rear mains to be installed crooked. Sent from my SM-G990U2 using Tapatalk

If you were to build an LML....

What rear seal installer do you use? If you use one that does not have a relief in it for the dowel, you can run into problems like you mentioned Sent from my SM-G990U2 using Tapatalk

    Reliable LML

There's not many tuned LMLs that haven't had to have head gaskets replaced. Then you yank the heads off to find the pistons have hairline cracks in them..... Doing one up right now. Should have been a quick head gasket job and 2 pistons are starting to crack. Sent from my SM-G990U2 using Tapatalk

    Headgasket question

The wave stopper design only comes in C, right? That's another big reason most people go with Cs. Sent from my SM-G990U2 using Tapatalk

Looking for Allison build/install options near Virginia.

Thanks for the mention, we don't tear into trans at all. Just a converter swap or R&R the entire unit. Sent from my SM-G990U2 using Tapatalk

    LML Knock and 150 psi

All 4 valves were bent. Machine shop fixed that up and the 4 thou they took off the surface had them looking pretty good. It's all back together running great. Slid 1 new piston/rings in. Sent from my SM-G990U2 using Tapatalk

Compression test - dead piston or head gasket issue?

This is probably the case, in my experience. A bad piston will pretty much always read zero on the compression test and max out the balance rate(-15.00 mm3). Just had one here that made 150 psi, had all 4 valves bent from a piston chunk breaking off. Sent from my SM-G990U2 using Tapatalk

What were the original concerns, the reason you're compression testing? Sent from my SM-G990U2 using Tapatalk

    LML Knock and 150 psi

Cylinder walls are fine except for the pics I took. Head is beat up but should be fine. I agree that a chunk of the piston broke out, and did the rest of the damage we see until it made its way out exhaust valve. Sent from my SM-G990U2 using Tapatalk
