    You are understanding my frustration. Let me ask this, could an injector problem show some of these symptoms? could the funny smell/color in the oil be fuel? Im just trying to be absolutely sure there is a head gasket issue before spending the time and money on the repair.

    Just my .02 on the subject......when I replaced my water pump I bought a 3/4" breaker bar at Habor Freight. Then slide a 60" piece of rigid conduit over the breaker bar......bolt came loose no problem.

    Coolant level seems to be fine I haven't had to add any in since I replaced the water pump a few months ago. (I think there was air in the lines)

    The end of the dipstick half way between "A and F" If there was coolant in the CC when I changed the oil wouldn't I have seen like a foamy substance with it?

    I'm not really looking to go much futher with the engine build just fix what's broken at this point. I wish I could add twins, etc. Just don't have the $$$$$.

    This must be nice.......I would love to say I'm ready for twins......Not going to happen this year with the news of Head gaskets going out! Just want the truck running correctly again......I think I have a bad CP3 as well....

    it's a "tool that mounts to the block with a magnet(not always) and has a needle type dohicky that shows the nummber on a digital scale." :-) is your plan to get a couple different gasket sets? I'm with you, as I need to limit down time.

    Thank you to everyone for this fantastic information. Here's my next list of Headgasket questions 101. Once the heads are off, what questions are needed to be ask of the machine shop to ensure proper gasket replacement? What are the chances that I will not need to do any work to the heads...

    How common is warpping of heads? How do you check for piston protusion?

    Thanks for the info.....I am hoping to get a topside creeper soon to assist with this project. Will I need and engine hoist? I have read that this is possible to do while the engine is still in the truck, true?
