    Main Cap Walk

take a piece of paper and cut a circle of known diameter out of it and then cut it in half. imagine one side as the block and one side as the main cap. trim some from both sides of the "mating" surfaces, put the pieces together and measure the diameters both ways. It will shrink both parallel to...

    Main Cap Walk

Tim your case doesn't sound too extreme. however if .003 were taken off the caps and .003 were taken off the block, that would require a .012" clearance hole, and that would be with the bolts touching the block. I don't know what the clearance actually is, but it adds up quick. im also wondering...

    Main Cap Walk

were the mating surfaces cut or was it just line honed?

    Main Cap Walk

that's definitely adding extra stresses to the bolted assembly without the motor even running. I'd be curious how much this is done. I'd be reluctant to do it on a high hp motor

how do you shave material off of a cap's mating surface that has cross bolted mains and not have an alignment issue?

    06 LBZ high idle

if you have steering wheel buttons, you can turn it on or off from there. If you don't, there's a procedure using gas/brake pedal (I can't remember the procedure), but it's in the manual. Possible yours may not be turned on? Has it ever come on before for you?

    Cam Gear Loading on Crank

This is pretty interesting. Typically straight gears are weaker than helical simply due to the fact that there is less contact area for the same size gear. They are also much louder than helical gears at higher speeds. The problem with helical gears is the axial force (thrust) when loaded. There...

    Paid off the ol girl

Paid mine off last month. After 3 years of paying $622/month, I decided to write a nice $10,500 check to the bank and finish it off. It's going to take a couple months before I realize how nice its going to be without that payment.

    lly twin install

make sure the pipe from the filter to the turbo is not in backwards. This allows for the MAF sensor to be facing the wrong way...don't laugh, had a buddy help me when I did mine and it ended up going in the wrong way. Fortunately i found it pretty quick.
