    Duramax 2 step

I tried that one on my race truck and it didn't work well. The boost would keep rising along with the HP and basically blow past any setting on the thing. I didn't spend much time with it, so maybe it'd be possible. I may still have it somewhere if you want it Rick.

Oil priming after build - leave glow plugs out?

I've always used red and never had to use heat to remove them. I'd recommend using new bolts, i've had used bolts shear off and screwed up the flex plate and zinged the engine to the moon.

    LML vs L5P

Stock for stock there is no comparison, the LP5 hands down. The stock LMLs suck in the throttle response department, i wouldn't even drive my new LML until i fixed it with tuning. If the LML is staying stock, the LP5 is a much better truck IMO. I have 16k on my 2018 and has not been to the...

What's changed is we are a bunch older and no wiser. I always thought with age comes wisdom, nope. Damn lying bastards.

Question: Built Motor & Trans How Much NOS Can it Safely Take

You may want to check your solenoid size also. I used a purge solenoid for a long time and i would not pick up any HP after about .040 jet as it wouldn't flow anymore. I think a 3 AN line is good for .130 or so but not sure if it flows the same as a .130 jet would though.

    Exhaust without a tune

This is one of the reasons that forums have gone down hill so badly. Here's a guy that is trying something different and getting beat up over sharing his thoughts. If this mentality was the norm back in the early 2000's when the duramax started coming around in the performance side of things...

Question: Built Motor & Trans How Much NOS Can it Safely Take

Kind of a loaded question. I've run .036 jet on the dyno and it is good for 100hp when fuel only is in the 1200hp range. If running 100 psi of boost at 1200hp, the results of N2O will not be the same if pushing 60psi of boost and 800hp. If you are on a stock crank shaft, you are already at...

    Exhaust without a tune

There isn't a DTC for this that efi live or HP tuners can see. What year truck do you have? The LML will hit 700 miles and try a regen, it doesn't matter the soot grams. I have tested this. If the regen isn't successful (reducing soot grams) which happens if the dpf is unbolted, then it...

LLY: 52 Gal SuperTank Fuel Level Sensor Scaling

Or you can just adjust the % of increase of the new tank size to the existing stock scaling in the fuel sensor primary table. So going from a 26 gallon stock tank to a 52 gallon tank, add 110%. This has worked for many years and have never heard any complaints as it keeps the stock scaling graph.

    LML First Dyno Session. Disappointed.

Stock trans tuning at 480 RWHP is more than i would expect. Your expectations are not reasonable. Built trans tuning with your current mods would be more in the 500-520HP range. My LML was 536HP with lift pump, intake, down pipe. The injection pump is max'd out there. Use the dyno like...

    Swapping on bigger nozzles

We used to hone tips all the time before the craze of running monster injectors. 30%-40% tips done by extrude honing and they always worked great. $200.00-300.00 and never had or heard of any problems. As stated, most honing companies will not go over 60% so i didn't have any experience...

    Happy Birthday Subman

Happy Birthday friend. This is what us old diesel guys are doing for fun now, pulling wheelies. Ken still puts a whoopin on me on the tree.

Sure thing, you can get those seat belt latches with the male latch from summit or jegs.

    Window Net Pictures

I've seen that way also Dave but as i use my door and swing out door bar, i went this route. I have seen working door cars that used the latch up top and then used a cable holding the front of the bottom rod downward. Then the whole thing will collapse downward when unclipped. I'm not...

This is in the race truck. Basically same set-up in my drag car. Seat belt clip on the lower front and three steel grommets on the other 3 corners. The way it works is , unclick the seat belt latch and pull it forward to pull the lower rod out of the grommet. I then tuck it up out of the way...

    L5P L5P Tuning

I added a S&B intake to the truck and with the banks it made 481RWHP. I went back to stock and did a before and after on the banks and then the S&B so the data would be from the same evening. So the combo is worth about 80HP. My daughter raced it last weekend with the intake and tuner and...

    L5P L5P Tuning

In the mean time...here is some data i did today on my dyno. This is a fun truck, mine has a 4-6 inch lift and 35" tires. The truck is 2 for 3 in event wins this year that we have entered. My 17 year old daughter just won the main event at the NHRA Fox hunt last weekend in it. Ran within .10...

Billet metal specialist thread (we argue cause we are dense)

Mark, did the rod bend or did it separate/fracture? You mentioned that the piston was still in the bore. I have had gas engines fracture rods from over revving. Just curious.

Question: Which are faster drag radials or cheater slicks/slicks

I have run them both. I'm currently running the M & H 30 x 14 cheaters. I run tubes in any bias ply slick on these trucks. These tires were never meant for this kind of weight and running tubes gives another level of safety. The tubes also help keep the truck settled better during hard accel...
