And I am not actually at home right now but the stock lml pistons had a like shaded arrow pointing to the front on the bottom of the piston and if I remember right these are actually stamped arrows on these pistons but they are sideways pointing to the front of the engine not to the top like the old style pistons are. So what I am saying these would be arrow on the top towards the valley and the arrows are always pointing to the front, if they are sideways? Right? Like you showed me

ring end gap, I didn't file anything down yet the top ring is around .016 on the feeler gauge and the 2nd is .019 and the oil is .006 what is the best to run on this? There is a bunch of write ups on this but I am not really sure what to go with

All depends on how much power and how you are getting to that power. Nitrous, more fuel than air, more air than fuel, etc

It's just going to be a street truck/ daily driver no nitrous or anything like that stock injectors and a 64mm drop in turbo

Arrow to the top pointing to the valley or if they are on the side pointing front to back, yes they would then point to the front.

I got the truck put back together and running after having a return line issue I had to figure out, but it seems like it has some blowby I'm not really sure if it would be considered to much or not it sounds good runs good and smooth but when you take the oil cap off and turn it upside down it dances a little and has a haze out of the fill tube, but I haven't put but maybe 5 miles on it maybe. So I'm not sure if it's pretty normal and if I need to get a good run on it or not, I drove it 5 miles easy, but I also can't drive it real far because I need a good tune for the super stock lds pump. If anyone has some good input would be much appreciated. Thank you

I have some questions I know I haven't been on this forum for awhile but I have some questions, I got that lml engine put back together and runs good but the engine seems a little loud with those mahle cast performance de liped pistons but it runs really good and doesn't miss a beat good oil pressure all good so far just put 4,000 miles on it and been through first oil change at 2500 and no alarms set off👍 now I went out got a 08 lmm good looking truck from the dealership local know dealership for my wife truck run perfect no problems and we bought it well lasted one day and coolant system started over pressurizing so we all know what that means..... So now we went ahead and got everything to do head gaskets and I went ahead and got studs and was getting all the parts together to do so I could get it done in a weekend.... And wrong number eight piston had a little crack on top of the bowl so now we tore the engine out on this one and did the same thing that we did to the lml to our new to us lmm but this time we got the de liped pistons with the coating on it because the ones that are not coated are on backorder, but to get to the point is this truck sounds just like the lml almost identical now at idle it has almost a noisy knock but kinda but everything is good oil pressure and everything runs like it should and doesn't shimmy or shake and when you give it gas or boost it up it goes away, Idk if I am just over thinking it I mean it doesn't really bother me I just don't know if it normal for these pistons or what? That is my question, so any thoughts and input on this thank you !! And sorry for such a long post I am just trying to let you know the whole story thank you again

Maybe the guys that deal with them more can chime in. I have a feeling it could be a piston to wall clearance issue.

Do you know what they set the Piston to wall clearance at?

DId they use a Torque Plate when they honed the block?

Sounds like it could be timing knock because it goes away with more boost. If you aren't running a tune or it's the same as before the piston change, then I'd be inclined to think you have more compression with the new pistons. Either via less clearance from the piston top to the head or better sealing of the rings.

If you have access to the tune, try dropping the timing one degree at the low boost areas. May also play with the pilot timing too in the rattling area.

And to answer the first question It was close to stock and it didn't make it to a machine shop, but the other one had rotating assembly balanced at a machine shop but they both sound similar to the same it is weird to me almost like they are the same exact engine running together. Almost 6.7 power stroke sounding at idle

What was piston to deck height before- and after- the build? Did you use the same thickness replacement headgaskets or just go with Cs like most do? So many variables......
Not as familiar with Mahle delipped pistons as Id like, but are their bowls the same size as a stock delip would be or are they smaller? Reason I ask is that compression should've dropped a point or so.
Where's Jon? He'll know for sure.
