Because sometimes a guy needs a truck. I mean, shit happens...but every three months? Cmon.

I guess this thread will end up a cautionary tale for people googling information on these LWN trucks. Not that it started that way, but in the end, Ive come to the conclusion that these diesels just arent worth the hassle that their emissions crap gives out. I shouldve bought a V6 gas truck.

I am curious to see what happens with the newer vehicles going forward now that the emission regulations have changed.

Replaced Sensor 2 with brand new GM sensor. Easy enough. Hooked up Gretio to read system.
Not showing codes, but the DEF derate warning is still there
Ran Service Regen to clear system (DPF was at 105%, now at 8%) That was pretty cool watching the temps skyrocket, pressures and % drop.
Ran DEF maintenance system reset -- no change
Ran DEF tamper reset -- no change
Ran DEF system data reset (which reset the DEF derate counter last time) -- no change

This sucks. If I had a towel handy to throw in, I would.

You need to run the reductant system malfunction service bay Test

Yup, ran that. I called it the maintenance reset. My bad. Interesting parameters it watches. Didnt make any difference.

Sometimes it takes a couple times. You may also need to go for a decent drive and run the proceedure to test your make sure the nox sensors are working correctly. Its not something the scanner does, you are just watching to make sure the nox sensors as working right. I dont remember the exact proceedure off the top of my head but i know you need to accel hard and then coast to make sure both sensors ready under 10ppm as you coast. Theres more to it than that though

If you got alot of traffic, probably. I usually just prop the scanner on the dash and go hit out vacant road a few miles away

Topped off DEF.
Ran all checks again....no codes in ecm
Reset nox 2
Reset nox1
reset DEF level
derate warning still active
Ran reductant malfunction test
Nox 1 and Nox 2 are working, but still all these malfunctions. I dont get it? Is the new nox 2 sensor bad out of the box?

If I can delete the truck with warnings showing, and the new tuning will clear it all, then I'll try that. If not, it's another dealer visit

Back from dealer. The DEF/SCR system was all "gunked up" (their terminology, not mine). They had to do another service regen and then another pair of tamper/malfunction resets to get the derates to clear. No hard part issues. Total cost this time, $467.
Also, I got a text from a person interested in the truck yesterday, and had to explain the situation. The emissions issues didn't seem to deter him, so I guess we'll see just how much of a loss I'm going to take on this pile of excrement when we talk again tomorrow.

I feel for you, Tom. Good looking little truck, but gosh damn would I want to light that thing on fire. Hopefully you can sell it and be done.

I shouldve just deleted it last year, but i didnt. Now Im past the point of caring. Still like the truck, but not the emissions. Never again.
Here's hoping the buyer calls me Tuesday to set up the meet. Ive found a few GMT800s in really nice shape that might suffice.
