We love our Patrols. There are lots of them around Australia (easy to find parts) and they have the strongest driveline. They are the base of many off-road racing builds.
In 2000 Nissan put a 3l motor in most of them up to 2006.5 and 90% of patrols got a newer version of the 3 liter but was very under powered and started to have real problem's at around 350 000km.

So the V8 Duramax is a easy fit into the engine bay, well kind of.

Are you using the Duramax dive line? Earlier Duramax trucks came with 1410 u joints and later models used the 1480 joint. While I'm far from en expert on the Nissan Patrol's, it's my understanding that their drive line is considerably smaller. And the Duramax in 4lo or even just 1st in 4hi will have a lot of torque

Maybe it will be just fine. I don't know. But something to think about
