The next bit of interior work includes a rear seat from a Yukon/Tahoe/Suburban. Pretty close to the same color. The old seat only folded forward but still didn’t leave much room to access behind the seat. The brackets are actually from the front seats that I installed. Only had to drill one hole and some clearancing around the floor contour. Now I need to make some armrests for the back doors. It’s just a grab handle now.

So few weeks back I was moving some stuff. I pulled out of the Driveway heard clunk followed by a loud Metal object hitting the asphalt...
Turns out the Tailgate unlatched and the contents of the bed hit the road way.... MF$*(9@!

Luckily it was a side street. So I swung back around and snatched up my engine stand... couple scrapes and the back cover was ripped off.

I decided it was time to rebuild it with new latches and strikers from GM!!! Man what a difference! It even came with new cables and the rubber bumpers. The old cables were also tore up and the rubber bumpers were missing since I have had the truck.

The difference is huge. Well worth the money spent!!!

The old latches had the plastic swelling, same with the strikers on the bed.
15921948 is the driver side
15921949 is the passenger side
11570162 is the striker bolt.

The Old tailgate handle bezel was broken and glued on so I replaced it with one from Taiwan that was around $10 that I have had laying around for awhile.

Ended up ordering some hardware from Hicksville Auto recyclers for the truck. Stuff for the windshield wiper assembly and the headlamp support brackets.

Thought I had pictures but I guess not. So here we go. I don't ever remember it closing so nice! I guess I have been dealing with it so long on all my trucks I forgot how nice it could be.

Your pics make me remember VRStraps from way back in the day. Those were the first mod I ever made to my old truck. In fact, I sold it with them still there.

Guy on Diesel Place named "Victory Red" (hence "VRStraps") back in 2003/4 came up with beautiful aluminum tailgate straps that replaced the cables.
I was one of the first people who bought a set from him, and he sold a LOT of them.

We're they like the old school 2 piece mechanical ones the used on the 70-80s trucks?

I started adding the second alternator to my 2016 truck.Plus,I'm changing the idlers since the mileage is 161k and don't know if they were ever changed.I will say,the idler by the tensioner was one mtherfcker to change,if you have big hands, your getting scraped upped up.cromwell extended length ratcheting wrench to the rescue on that one.installing that belt was no fun, talk about exact fit.glad its done.lol
I don't remember this being that hard on my lb7.

I work out of town, and usually have about a three hour drive home after my work week is done. Couple weeks ago, my 20 year old (LBZ) factory Bose speakers finally gave up. Driver door speaker completely tore up. Right at the beginning of my drive home...

Anyways, this initially started with replacing my factory speakers with some JBL club series speakers in the doors. What a difference that made!!!

Eventually, this turned into finally doing the lux amp upgrade with a Kicker compRT sub in the factory location and a kenwood DMX958XR head unit. Man does it sound good.

Now I have this intermittent issue of the sound cutting off entirely that I'm chasing down....

@TheBac hey Tom - did you actually buy those straps? I ordered them with the link in your post, and I haven't gotten any shipping confirmation nor reply back to my inquiry. I'm thinking that it's a scam, since they were so cheap. If you received a set, I'll hang tight. Otherwise, I'm calling my CC for fraud. Thanks!

No i did not order any. It was just what I found when looking for VR. That sucks to hear about those. I'll edit my post and remove that link.
