Short story:

A guy I know is possibly looking to get into an LML. He bought his truck from another guy I know. His Allison 6-speed was built by Mike L..... twice.

http://www.duramaxdiesels.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19986

Read that thread fried it and he pulled the trans and sent it back out to Mike for a rebuild as far as I know. Then sold it to guy #2 that I know.

So now the truck has a little under 100k miles on it. Buddy is #2 either going to

A) Sell the truck to me, I'm going to swap trans out of my regular cab and his truck and put the built one in the RCSB. Then sell the truck because I have no use for another LBZ.

B) I'm going to swap the transmissions before he trades it in on an LML or whatever he ends up buying.

Truck was tuned by me with DSP5.... he runs a Max effort tune quite a bit and gives the truck hell, all it has is a lift pump exhaust and tuning from what I remember.

Since the built trans has ~40k on it since the rebuild should I do anything to it before throwing it in my truck? Plans for the RCSB in the future are a lift pump, 68mm Cheetah, modified CP3, and injectors.

Send the TC out to be refreshed? Obviously put new fluid in it. What else?

Thanks :D

Me personally, if you can go for a ride in it and know it is working correctly, I would leave it be and swap them out.

Even if the converter has 40k miles on it of ~450hp?

I've seen the truck recently. Shifts great and I couldn't tell how the converter felt because I wasn't driving. I just figured while I have it out getting the converter refreshed or change to something else instead wouldn't be a bad idea..I think it had a 1058 in it but not sure.

I can do that, thanks Mike.

My precision ML had 40k on it and seen a lot of abuse from 500hp to 750 and was still working like a champ when it came out. Like a dumbass, I got rid of it and to this day, wish i had it back.

Once again, me personally, I would run it if all seems ok. If you got the time and money, sending it out surely isn't going to hurt anything

I'd rather just do it and spend a few bucks on the front end. I'm either pulling these things on jack stands or on a 4 post lift with a crossmember that is right in the way  I don't know which is worse.

I would definitely pass on it and let me put it in my lmm

This doesn't sound like a good deal for me.
