the location in PA is kinda in the middle of nowhere... about 5hours from Philly. Maybe something closer to the i-95 corridor would draw in a crowd sooner :)

I really want to attend one of these! My Italian buddy keeps visiting around the same dates though... "Fundsalo".

yes the class is definitely off the beaten path - i agree - but i have been in discussion with the shop owner and quite frankly, they are very easy to get along with and schedule this out with. I tried for quite a while to get a location in PA to work out - but either coudn't get the shop for 2 days, or the weekends conflicted, etc. etc. I do try pretty hard to make things as convenient as possible. It is a smaller town though. Usually a bunch of diesel heads in a small town leads to alot more fun 'after' class :) Not saying we should send smoke signals to the EPA - but you know... it's not a terrible thing either. I'll be flying and in airports for 8-9 hours to get there on a friday, then still driving another hour myself to actually get to the city where i'm staying - which is another 20 miles from the class.

A little inconvenient but having everything we need, including proper classroom space so we can all focus on what we're there to do is a big plus in my book. It's hard to find a location that has everything I need to put on a great class without alot of distractions. Want to make sure we can get you the info i came to teach and help understand the concepts that are more difficult to grasp.

So, i'm going to stick with these guys as they are very happy to help make the class a success for everyone. last thing i want is for someone to leave feeling they were cheaped out on or that they didn't get any info...

I see/appreciate your reply on the location. I can see where the transportation PITA would be worth having the ideal setup once you arrive!

As a thought... Can you buy the book online and then apply the cost as a credit toward taking a future course? Might help to break up the $$.

You can buy the books, but i don't give the full credit price back towards the class for lots of reasons. I do give about a $50 discount to anyone who has bought the books previously - but in the class, there are almost ALWAYS updated versions of the book that i supply everyone with. If you bought the books now, and didn't come to the class, the books used in the class are going to be different, and what we are working on as a class (EFI is getting ready to release new software so i have 4 sets of the old books left for sale and then i have to go update the books to match the newer software, where applicable)...

So - that is part of the reason i don't credit the full price, because i want everyone in the class to be working from the same thing - not being a page or two behind or missing something that everyone else has. That might sound wrong on my part, but as much work and cost as goes into making those books and keeping them updated with changes so that at class time everyone has 'current' information to take home with them - well, that's just how I do it.

I understand wanting to get a jump on the class though. alot of the information in the current books won't change at all. Some of it will though, and until i have the new official software in my hands i can't really start making changes to the book so it's cutting things close on time as it is to get updated info into the books, and get them printed and ready for the classes.

Sorry that's not what you were hoping for, but i hope it makes sense...

Hopefully you find it worth the effort. I think you'll be ahead of the game (and money ahead too) to wait for the class with the books. I wish i had them written already because then we could probably work something out - but - the software that will be available by the time the class rolls around is NOT what's available right now - and in the class i want everything to be the latest and greatest....

Class changes and additions!

The class at Bob Cessna's place that was originally scheduled for January is being moved to either the weekend of March 16,17th or the 23,24th.... I'm going to ask for feedback on this from those interested in the PA class to see if one is definitely 'out' as I don't know all the possible local events that may be occurring in that region. So feedback from customers would be great on which date to pick from. My preference would be the 23 and 24th but want to accomodate people as well - so let me hear from you here or PMs or emails!

There has been a NEW class added to the mix for those of you on the west coast or northwest area, as well as those in BC Canada and possibly Alberta...

On March 9-10th, in Bellingham Washington, we will be holding EFI training classes at DK Diesel Offroad & Performance. There have been alot of requests for a class in or around the Washington area - and while it is pretty far to the north, it again works as a facility that provides everything we need on site to have a great class. I'm hoping that for those across the border it is close enough to be reasonable to get there as well.

I do NOT have the class up on the webiste for sign ups yet but will by tomorrow so anyone interested either watch for it on the website or i'll be posting the link tonight or tomorrow for people to sign up for that class.

Thanks! As always, hit us up with any questions!

I'm sure it will be a great learning experience. I think I've come a long way since I got my V2, but the more that I learn the more that I realize that I don't know shit, lol.

Today I started trying to use the "Maps" feature on EfiLive Scan, and I can't get the data to match up exactly between the log, tune, and map. But... it's a COOL feature, and I'll figure it out :woott:

There are alot of things that we will get the chance to cover and some that we won't... Things like the maps we don't cover simply because of how they are buit from the logs. While they get you 'close' to what the tune is doing, the numbers will almost never be spot on.... if you are trying to compare them to the actual tune

They are a great tool though. On Sundays class we might have time to dip into them and go over it a little - but i don't spend alot of time in there because i usually know what the tune is supposed to do.... the log just confirms if it's doing it or not :)

On the Sunday classes, there will be a lot of time spent answering questions from Saturday as well as talking about approaches to tuning trucks with heavy mods and testing a couple out on the dyno.... So make sure to have a list ready for Sunday :;)

do you get into how to tune for larger injectors and turbo swaps?

Thanks for the info on the maps. I was calling my buddy and asking him why the log, tune, and map didn't all exactly agree, lol. I have found it helpful though to get a visualization of exactly where I "am" at certain times, llike cruise, for tuning specific areas. But again, I'm still learning :)

Yep we get into it a little on the first day and alot more on the second day... It's a fairly broad topic, so we spend most of the time going over the approach to bigger injectors more than "this is what you do with 100% over Exergys" type thing. The trucks used to demo with on Sunday will hopefully help illustrate the differences and why I approach them the way I do (not saying my way is the only way to do it either.... we could spend a week in a classroom and come up with several ways to accomplish roughly the same outcome)...

Hopefully that answers your question :)

Had one set up at Rudy's in SC a few months back.... nobody wanted to come.... I did talk with them and we are going to pursue a class there again in the future unless you can think of a better location in the area to host one??

Hopefully that answers your question :)

Sure does! Thanks!! I have some tips waiting to go in once I'm up to it (I'm down from surgery following a badly ruptured achilles; 6mo recovery), and I am excited about applying all that I can learn :)
