Is that you in the black shirt, John? How was it hanging out with Greg?

Yes. That is me in my spiffy new Precision Turbo shirt.

Hanging out with Greg is not bad. He is a lot of fun actually. I have spent over 20 hours on the road with him, stayed at his house, shared a hotel room, many meals (he makes a real good breakfast burrito), I know him well. What is really amazing is how much he is on the phone either taking calls, texts, or emails. I don't know how he keeps orders straight but he seems to.

Press release.

For immediate release

Mike Wood, owner of Nitrous Express, became the first person to exceed the 200 mph mark in a diesel powered street legal vehicle at the Texas Mile in historic Goliad Texas. Mike wheeled his 1994 DuraMax GT Mustang to a world record Sunday morning to the cheers and support of the crowd and fellow competitors.

Mike just missed the mark Saturday, running a close 199.2 MPH. He and his Crew, consisting of John (JohnBoy) Jordan, and Greg Hogue went to work, refining the tune on the Keeter Performance Engineering 7 liter (427 CID) Turbocharged Chevy diesel engine Saturday night. Wood’s Team was rewarded Sunday morning, by not only exceeding the 200 mph barrier, but smashed it with an amazing 202.4 MPH.

The Texas Mile is a one mile standing start Land Speed event held twice a year in Goliad Texas

Mike’s company, Nitrous Express located in Wichita Falls Texas, is a leader in applying Nitrous Oxide to diesel performance applications resulting in safer power increases and significant smoke reduction in competitive diesel motorsports. The DuraMax diesel Mustang uses the advanced boost referenced nitrous control system manufactured by NX.

Mike and the Mustang are not new to the winners circle having competed and won Hot Rod Magazine’s Drag week the last 2 years. Hot Rod’s Drag Week is a grueling week long, 5 race track, 1500 mile road trip without support vehicles. The Mustang turned in impressive 9 second quarter mile elapsed times, at 147 mph, all the while with impressive 38 mpg fuel averages, including racing. Mike drove the car from Wichita Falls over 1000 miles to the start of Drag Week and then drove home for a total of 3800 miles.

The Mustang burns an alternative energy blend of 95 % synthetic diesel made from a gas to liquid process utilizing natural gas, and 5 % bio-diesel, this fuel is manufactured by Gulf States Hydrocarbons of Houston Texas. Jess Hewitt, CEO of Gulf States Hydrocarbons, manufactures SynDiesel primarily as an emergency generator fuel with 15 year storage life, as opposed to 1 year for regular diesel fuel. Hewitt states that diesel performance enthusiasts quickly realized that SynDiesel was a cleaner alternative to pump diesel and has a performance advantage. SynDiesel is the spec fuel for the SCCA VW Jetta Cup series .

Mike can be seen driving his unique Mustang around Wichita Falls , and the country .

Very very nice gentlemen, well done. I look into Syndiesel but the shippng charges made it very expensive to get out west. I'll have to check their website again. Hope the Mustang makes it to TS.
