What’s up guys. I plan on changing out the transmission fluid here soon and I wanted to get people’s thoughts on which oil/fluid they prefer to use. I’m not to sure on which fluid to run since my transmission is “built”, if that even matters. Thanks for the recommendations.

Unfortunately, the builder is no longer around (Mike), also I can’t remember what fluid was talked about. Currently the shop is closed until Monday. So I thought I post something up here to get some help.

I see on Inglewoods website that they have juggernaut juice. I don’t know what the hell it is though.

I wonder if it's just relabeled or if he's mixing it like the guys from PowerDriven Diesel were.

Personally I just keep 5 gal buckets of Lucas Sure Shift, it's under $90 through Summit

DMax store is offering this for $139 after taxes/shipping. I was thinking about going this route.

I don’t think I have stock clutches. This is what Mike put in 4-5 years ago.

Can't see the c3 / c4 friction plates, that's the c5 stackup which appears to be OE. Depending on what was available Mike probably was running the GPZ plates in c3/ c4, which just running Dex 3 is fine.

When Mike rebuilt my trans, he put in Normal Dex III. I asked about swapping to Amsoil with after the build since I already has a few gallons on hand for upcoming services planned before the rebuild was planned.

He told me to not swap for several thousand miles to the full synthetic so the clutches could bed in with the steels and the TAPS could learn properly. When I called after 5k miles to do the service on it, I asked about swapping to synthetic and he told me I was good to make the change and have been on Amsoil ever since.

From what I can remember. I think Mike used Raybestos. For the internals. And maybe the Dex 3 for fluid.

Mike ALWAYS said to buy the cheapest dex 3 you can find and just change it every year or so, at least that was the advice he gave me early on in my building career.

I have always told my customers to follow the same advice and have had zero issues. After understanding the differences between dex 3, dex 6, and TES-295 fluids (Transynd) it makes sense.

On a high level dex 3 is the thickest but in it's OEM form is a conventional fluid. There absolutely are synthetic dex 3 fluids out there. Transynd is in the middle on viscosity and dex 6 is the thinnest.

Personally, I'd tell you to run the cheapest dex 3 local to you and change it every year or so OR you can splurge for a synthetic fluid. Personally I am a big Hot Shot's blue diamond or AmsOil Torque Drive fan for those that want a synthetic/longer life fluid.

My personal truck has AmsOil Torque Drive in it because I had 6 gallons of it left over after Diesel Power Challenge and it needed to find a home in something haha.
