Couldn't any reviews on Wolff steering column bearing for the HD trucks as mine is toast again for the 3rd time. Wondering if they're worth the penny over the plastic dorman column bearing. Also wanted to see if the Borgeson intermediate shaft is a better part than just adding a grease fitting on the dorman ISS that I've replaced twice already.

I'm getting my front end done once the snow melts, already has a rare parts tie rod assembly on it. Will be getting the rare parts extreme duty idler arm/support and pitman arm. Steering box will be replaced with the Cardone box that I have sitting in my garage at the moment. Just want my steering to last as it should and do it once.

I have the Wolff steering column bearing, but haven't installed it yet. Seems like a high quality piece. From the videos I've seen of it installed and read about on other forums, people seem to really like it.

I have been running one since last October. Works great and there is no play at all. The OEM one had a little play when new.

I would recommend it. Just be careful when installing. The tolerance is so close when installing it in the steering column that it is very easy to roll and pinch/cut the o-ring. Once you get it installed do not remove it. There is a great chance you will ruin the o-ring. The kit does come with two o-rings.

Did you replace your intermediate shaft while you replaced the column bearing?

Yes I did, I replaced the upper and lower. But mine were still good with no play. I just decided to replace them since I wanted to turn some wrenches and got the machined bearing. Plus the truck is 18 yrs old and it still had the original intermidiate shaft.

On my dirt road I no longer get the knocking sound / feel like I did with the plastic bearing. Even when new.

Did you replace them with a Dorman or Borgeson shaft?

The Wolff steering support is phenomenal and a major upgrade to these trucks. After getting pissed off enough at the OEM units I've started using them for all of our personal vehicles and customer vehicles.

10/10 would recommend!
Great! Glad to hear it's a much better product, I was getting pissed as well after doing it multiple times. Instead of wasting time on useless parts that doesn't do its job long enough, I'm over fixing shit twice that should have been corrected to begin with.

How are the Borgeson intermediate shaft? I've read mixed reviews but rather see something more long term based.

Hm. I've replaced my Dorman twice I think. But lately when I notice it starts rattling again, I pull the shaft out and regrease them and back in which would last a while. I've regreased the Dorman shaft probably 3 times in the past 2 years to stop the rattle. This time around if I'm sticking with the Dorman, I'll tap a grease zerk in them and find a higher viscosity grease that should last longer.
