Hey guys. Been eyeing this for a while and finally pulled the trigger since I’m traveling a lot lately. Lowe’s has the 224 piece Craftsman set marked down from $239 to $129. Has wrenches, Allen’s (SAE and metric wrenches and SAE sockets), 1/4 and 3/8 deep and shallow 6pt sockets, extensions, and swivels, as well as 1/2 6pt shallow sockets and such. Ratchets too of course. All in a very nice plastic box with sliding drawers and a big opening lid. I’ll post pics here in a bit. It’s a great kit to keep with you or for home use. Now I know they went to China, but as far as sockets and wrenches I can’t tell a difference and I actually like the ratchets better than the old USA style. Especially the 1/4 one. Never did have one of those that work worth a crap. All 72 teeth as well

That's a good deal. I know Stanley bought them out recently, last year I think, Stanley isn't anything special, but they do own Proto and Mac Tools, so they know how to run a good tool company.
Do they still have a lifetime warranty?

Yes they do. If it breaks take it back and you get a new one.

That's a good deal. I've actually been impressed with the Icon stuff at Harbor Freight recently, but I think it's a little overpriced.

I’ve played around with them a bit. I do like their tools (boxes are grossly overpriced) but I’ll be hard pressed to get a ratchet from them. I like the Pittsburg Pro with the comfort grip at a cheaper price way too much to spend more, tho I might just to try it. I do like the sockets and wrenches tho. Might use them for the 1/2 set I need. Really would like to find used Mac tho.

The boxes are INSANE on price. I've been looking at getting a tool vault because my current Lista is packed and I can't stomach paying for another one.

check out the Homak RS series boxes. I was looking st them at are napa dealer. I was impressed for the price they are and warranty provided.

My next box will be a US General Gen 2 box. I have the 44” gen 1 and love it but the gen 2 are a lot deeper and I love the colors

Kobalt tools are the worst I have ever used. I don’t regularly use crap tools, but I had to swap a tranny at my BIL house in a truck I picked up on the west coast and I was ready to chuck those tools. Absolutely frustrating and just miserable to use. You couldn’t give me that set.

I’m not a fan of the ratchets at all. They are clunky and junky. But for $100 if you’re in the side of the road trying to replace an idler or something, I’d take it for sure. The wrenches and sockets aren’t terrible. Replace the ratchets and you’d have a decent portable set
