THere is 1 small physical difference between lb7 and 04/05 lly pistons, i have yet to break a modded lly piston at 1k hp so i dont beleive it to be a strength difference at all!

Whats the difference? I broke 2 LLY pistons, they were stock though. And then 3 more had developing cracks when I tore the engine down. Nowhere near 1000hp

lb7s have 4 holes from the oil ring groove to the underside of the piston, llys do not. Im not excactlysure when the change was made but best i can tell it was with the switch from 7 to y!

ahhh ok thanks! Yeah Ive noticed the difference in oil holes and noticed the difference in where "ISUZU" was cast into them before....but I just never made the connection that one was LLY and one was LB7, just because I always ASSumed/read they were the same, so when I would pull them out of engines I would stick them in the same place on the shelf.

I always just assumed the difference in the two was castings or something else minor, I never knew it was LB7 <---> LLY.

Good info Caleb! :thumb:
