Taxs do suck alot. The 1/2 acre lot that has the house from 1880 on it I covered the windows and doors is 580 sqft cost 1,000 a year. The 1 acre with the 3,000 sqft house built in 1989 is 5 bd 3 bath living room and den is 2,360 a year.

My grandparents own 15 acres of oceanfront property with 3 houses, 2 shops, 2 rv pads, a fish processing plant, and a wharf. Taxes and insurance are over $35K /year for them.

bought mine for 52,000 on one acre. Put 50,000 into the house and built a garage. appraised at 150,000 at the bottom of the market crash. Two loans combined I pay 1000ish. That's taxes and everything. The second loan is just for 10 years though. Not bad for an almost brand new 1700sq. ft house with a 28x32 garage. I live in an area where there is no money. I bet average income is well under 50k. Don't let your house own you. Get something that you can comfortable pay for. just my .02.

I'm on a 1.05 acre lot in the middle of town. Very small house, <1000 sq ft. Paid 67k in 05. I slowly remodeled and recently got appraised at 110k. All of my bills combined for a month don't equal what some of yinz pay for a mortgage. Thank god I have positive equity.

Wow most of these house payments are more than I make in a month. We looked for two years for a house couldn't find anything we both liked so we bought a new trailer last year 425 month. We are going to in the next year or to start to look for some property I want at least 5 to 6 acres build an shop and then build a nice home just might take so time doing it thus way. But we will get what we want and not someones else's junk.

$0.... so glad it's paid off. After seeing the total paid would be triple the financed amount if I carried the loan full term, I paid it off as fast as possible.

The past few years were not fun, but now I get to bank the house payment & hopefully retire before I die.

Its sickening when you look at the money borrowed VS the money paid back on a 30 year:eek: Good for you on being able to buckle down and pay it off early:thumb:

Two houses on 5 acres each, one about 1000sq ft and one about 2200sq ft. One on 15yr and one on 30yr. Pay about $1100/mo together taxes and insurance inc.
