Shift Mechanism Help

Posting before I break something. I am replacing the shift mechanism on the steering column, it is the piece that the shift lever goes into. How do you remove the cable from the ignition? Do I need to pull the key cylinder apart? Everything is off of the column, just the cable into the key cylinder is left.

In case someone comes across this in the future. Remove key cylinder. Put screwdriver in and turn it back to the off position, cable can be removed. Put cable back in, turn to on position and reinstall key cylinder.
